New Astrophoto: Interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS (C/2025 N1)

21.11.2025

Comet 3I/ATLAS (C/2025 N1) is an interstellar comet discovered on July 1, 2025, by the ATLAS station. The comet is moving on a hyperbolic trajectory not bound to the Sun. The prefix "3I" designates it as the third discovered and confirmed interstellar object passing through the Solar System (after 1I/'Oumuamua and 2I/Borisov).

This image was captured on November 15, 2025, between 6:00 and 7:00 AM at the S. A. Kolobov Observatory using an ASTROSIB RC500 telescope on an ASTROSIB AVM-700 mount with an SBIG Aluma AC4040-Ultimate (C2) astrocamera. LRGB filters were used, with a total exposure time of 60 minutes.
