Space and 3D Technologies
On February 24 and 25, the "Quantorium" Children's Technopark (Magnitogorsk) hosted in-person training camps on virtual and augmented reality technologies. The S. A. Kolobov Observatory acted as one of the main partners of the educational intensive.
Real Tasks on a Cosmic Scale
On February 25, as part of the advanced "Master's Domain" track, observatory staff met with 12–17-year-old students studying 3D modeling (the "Pro-3D" track). We explained how immersive technologies are applied in modern astronomy and data visualization, shared practical experience, and prepared a unique task for the kids: developing a 3D model of the observatory.
Immersion into Professions of the Future
In addition to meeting with observatory experts, the camp participants attended lectures on designing complex realities and participated in specialized master classes on working in Unity, EV Toolbox, and Blender environments. Collaboration with real partners (including the Metallurg basketball club and a veterans' organization) helped young developers understand how in-demand their skills are in the modern world. The event concluded with a solemn presentation of certificates.
What's next? Representatives of the S. A. Kolobov Observatory will join the expert commission of the VR/AR camps at Quantorium to evaluate the children's projects. Furthermore, these camps served as powerful preparation for the upcoming Regional Festival "VR/AR-fest".
